I am a Technology Teacher assistant. There for, I asked my Technology teacher, and a classroom teacher to give me some time to work with their kids. Each activity I did was modified to be made in the computer.

Activity # 1: The Autobiography Cube
Grade level: First grade
Age: 6-7 year old students
Number of students: 20
Subjects taught: Writing, reading

I talked to Ms. Maricarmen and showed her the cube activity. I offered to do this activity twice in this school year: Once now and one at the end of next semester.
I created 21 cub templates on colored construction paper. The extra one is mine as an example. In Kidpix (drawing application) I created a template where I divided the page in four.

I explained to students that we were going to do a self-reflection of ourselves. In the cube we were going to have 6 sides. 4 will be pictures and 2 will be written. I showed them the cube I did and explained each box using my cube as an example.

Box 1 (drawing): One thing they enjoy to do in their spare time
Box 2 (drawing): One thing they enjoy doing during class
Box 3 (drawing): What they don’t like doing during class.
Box 4 (drawing): What has been the most difficult thing they have learned this semester.
Box 5 (written): What they like more (write, act, build or draw)
Box 6 (written): Their favorite sport

I showed the students the template in the projection and told them what to do in Kidpix.
They went to their computers and started to draw independently. The students were completely focused and engaged with their work. Some needed some guidance with their ideas.
After they where done, we printed the Kidpix template in the color printer.
The next day I went to their class to finish the cube. They had to cut and paste them in the construction paper. In the two spare boxes they had to write only one word. Some students needed help writing difficult words. When they were done they had to cut the box and glue it together.
The following day, students got the opportunity to share their cubes with one another and the teachers.

I really liked this activity because It will help me as well as the Homeroom teacher to know a little bit more about my students, what they expect and what they learned during the semester. It is also very nice to know what they like best and what I could improve. Renzulli's philosophy talks about the importance of students learning based on their interests and strengths. I will recommend this activity to homeroom teachers in the future. This is a very easy activity to do and easy to integrate with tech.

Activity # 2: Paper Tower Activity
Grade level: First grade
Age: 6-7 year old students
Number of students: 20
Subjects taught: Writing, Math (predictions)

I put in front of the class a stack of books, paper and scotch tape. I then explained them that I was planning to create a structure or tower to hold some books. I asked them to give me some ideas of how could I do this. I then showed them the word Document template I did so they can write their prediction. I also told them that I didn’t expected perfect spelling, but I expected the to write the best they could (writing the words as the sound). They where asked to fill in the first two questions.
Picture_3.png
Students went to their computers and in 20 minutes they were all done answering the questions. Most of them asked how to write some words, and as they asked the words, I wrote them on the board.
When they were done, I asked them to pair up with someone in the class and start constructing a tower. Most of my students were very excited about building the structure. I only gave each group one dictionary so they could test the construction (This took about 30 minutes). When they were done, I placed a table in the front of my class and did a group prediction with them for each tower. We all counted how many books each tower could stand. They had a blast trying to see witch tower was the stronger.

After brake time, they all came back to the computer lab and finished answering the last three questions. They all did an individual work on the computers although they did a tower in pairs.

Assignment 6
Post a copy of your Think Tac Toe using a 3 X 3 table that is color coded. Black for Basic, Blue for mid range, Red for higher level thinking. Be sure to use Bloom’s Taxonomy to develop your TTT.

Write a paragraph summarizing what you’ve learned this unit (concepts, survival needs, adaptation).
Draw a picture that will compare and contrast life on Mars (new colony) and life on Earth (current) Make sure you include similarities and difference.
Meet up with someone you do not regularly work with and explain what your survival need is and how you will adapt it in Mars. Demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills remembering that these skills include body language, eye contact, gestures, and words.
Make a table-top movie or Xtranormal video that explains life in your colony in Mars.
Create a set of rules for the people in the colony to live by.
Write a persuasive letter to your grandma asking her to come live in Mars (use the previously learned characteristics of persuasive writing) Include both natural and man-made elements that would attract tourists.
Imagine you are against moving to Mars. Write a persuasive letter explaining why it is not a good idea moving into mars. Make a comparative graph explaining survival needs and resources in the new colony.
Create a memory game with the vocabulary from this unit that you think will be helpful for next year’s students.
Go to the "Space Today" webpage below and get the information of the gases that compose atmosphere in Mars.
Get the percents that represents each gas in the atmosphere, turn them into fractions (lowest terms), and decimals.
Finally create a Pie Graph showing this information (label and title).

Assignment 5

Comment on possible advantages of having AlphaBet Syndrome. Why might nature have done this? Is there any genetic advantage to any of these special populations.

Why does nature programs brains differently:
I believe that nature creates different types for brains for three different reasons:
· Humans as animals: Having different skills and different ways of thinking gives humans different perspectives of how to act or create. This gives better opportunity to survive and to learn from others.
· Genetic Evolution for survival: Being different gives the human race and genetics a bigger spectrum for evolution. Depending on our costumes, place where we live, or way of living, we will keep changing in a way or another for a better adaptation.
· Social Evolution: For different type of activities, we need certain type of thinking. Nature crates our brains differently so we could have more options to grow as a society. The more different our brains are, the bigger opportunity we have to learn, adapt, exchange and feel as an individual. Feeling different makes us unique, and at the same time gives us the opportunity to socializes with different types of individuals.

Assignment 4:
Cut and paste the Learning Matrix activity from page 3 on to your page and tell me which Special population you worked on.

Group Members
Special
Population
Brief description of Population
Learning Challenges
Learning tips in content, process, Products or environment
Carolina Gayoso, Anais Buckley
Gifted and talented 1
They might show extraordinary strengths in innate understanding, natural compassion, humor, a command of language, mathematical reasoning, artistic ability, charismatic personality, mechanical ability or a combination of some of the above. They can show technical capability, perseverance, and maturity unmatched by any others in the class
Due to Now Child Left Behind most of the funds in public schools have gone to improve the performance of low average students; gifted and talented students are not being serviced.

Some parents ask in discussion pages if gifted or talented children should skip a grade, but there is a huge concern: How about their social skills?

Schools need to change the definition of smart
Do not teach content. Teach children

Focus on different intelligences
Focus on other activities: music, art, creative movement, the culinary institute, physical education, and technology
Teachers make sure they offers at least one activity utilizing each "smart," (body smart, picture smart, etc) and builds that into student awareness and vocabulary.
Rotate activities
relinquish some control and invest more trust in the students
Motivation and engagement are 90 percent of the game.

Assignment 3:
Tell me on your wiki page the name of the cartoon on the Cartoon Assignment on Page 2 that you worked on.

Cartoon Assignment: 1st Grade Students. Games and toys change from generation to generation. By: Melanie and Anais

Assignment 2:
Comment on your recent learning in our class about multiple intelligence theory or learning styles. Write one short reflection. Tell us one new thing that you learned about Multiple Intelligence / Learning Styles or differentiation.

It had been so refreshing to have this theory again. I’ve realized that I didn’t really differentiated between Multiple Intelligences and Learning Styles. Even if they are related, they are not necessarily equal. Student don’t have the same need when they receive information as when they express what they has learned. Now its clear to me that I need to change my teaching style as much as I can, so I can help different learning styles. I unconsciously teach to meet my personal learning style.
Knowing our learning styles and strengths is so obvious for an adult that I completely forgot to focus on this area. I need to know my students a little bit more even if this is very hard when you teach all elementary. I need also to help students to identify their learning styles and strengths so they can manage their skills to reach higher goals.

Assignment 1:
Tell us all 3 to 5 things about you that you would like us all to know about you. This is a written version of the Business card activity.

My name is Anais Buckley. I am a Technoogy Teacher assiatnt in Elementary school. I help teaching (sometimes teach) students from Kindergarten to 5th Grade.
I have studied to be an Ec teacher but I have no idea how I ended up teaching technology. It was a challenge at the beginning, but now I know its something I really like.
I am passionate about sports. I have played and tried so many sports (basketball, soccer, softball, javelin throwing and Rugby). Right now I train rugby twice a week and I love it. That is how I injured myself last week.
My dream for my retirement is to have a little house in the countryside, with a huge garden. I could live happily eating good food, listening to good music, doing arts and crafts, and having 10 hours of sleep every day.
